Japanese tourist drowns off Batu Feringghi

News from NST:

A Japanese tourist drowned after falling into the sea while sightseeing at the Batu Ferringhi beachfront about 8.30am today.

Tetsuya Fuji, 40, was standing on some rocks when he lost his balance and fell. His body was later found stuck between some rocks off the beach.

Northeast district police chief assistant commissioner Azam Abdul Hamid said police were still waiting for the post-mortem results to determine the cause of death.

He said police had so far ruled out any foul play.
