公正党峇都丁宜支部开幕 再林：为人民效劳为要务 蓝眼月亮不争补选

（槟城4日讯）公正党槟州联委会主席再林重申，保证回教党不会派人参选本南地州议席补选，并表示公正党会为补选全力以赴，以至该党在补选日获胜。
他是出席公正党峇都丁宜支部开幕仪式后，召开记者会时发表上述谈话。他说，在政治局势的非常时期，各党应把种族主义课题搁置一旁，最主要的是为人民带来效劳。
他也说，自从308政治海啸后，公正党会员随之大增，槟州目前共有3万名会员，而大部份的会员是属于40岁以下的民众。他说，自从安华出狱后，即把大部份精神摆放在三党为一的民联政党上，其处理民主政治的手法非常妥当，尤其是当政党表决决定后，就该持续保持尊重党纪律。”
出席开幕仪式的有植物园州议员王康立、槟州立法议会议长阿都哈林、浮罗山背国会议员尤斯玛迪、及公正党峇都丁宜支部主任阿莫再辛。仪式上，阿莫再辛受邀赠送纪念品予再林。
仪式上，浮罗山背国会议员尤斯玛迪也受邀致词，并希望设立公正党网站达致亲民目的，同时扩大传播空间，让游览者获得更多资讯。

峇都丁宜马斯海滨广场沦为死城 冀州政府打救
This is the place (Komplex Pantai Mas) i used to lepak since Standard 2 till Upper 6 before i came to UPM to further my study. My dad started to do his hawker business there since i was born in 1976, before that he did his biz on the trishaw-typed of vehicle.
The business was damn good last time that you have to work like a cow and i was very afraid of Hari Raya as the malay stall will close and we have to open, as we got to work from morning 8am till 8pm during this festive season. But now, you don't even can find the mat salleh that used to drink there, yam seng. I think now only left the local beach boys. Besides, adjacent hotels not allow thier staffs to have lunch outside (have to eat at the hotel canteen, anyway FOC). Besides hawker stalls, there are also other shops selling sourvenior, shirts, beach related items, etc. Things have changed a lot. But the "kam ching" is still there, and i will go back to the beach each time i am back to Batu Ferringhi. To feel the "sea wind", to see the waves, to touch the sands and of course to see the kwai Lor and the ka mui...... Still this is my hometown what.
Some how, the facilities need to be upgraded if Penang is so serious in tourism as the source of income for Penang especially Batu Ferringhi folks. The whole area is definitely rely on the tourists, nothing else! It is the bread and butter matter for the Foreigner's Rock-ers (The meaning of Batu Ferringhi).

林清和炮轰槟发展局经营不当
槟岛市议员林清和日前炮轰首相署下的槟州发展局经营不当，使曾经在90年代蓬勃一时的马斯海滨广场，逐渐被时代淘汰，仅剩寥寥无几的小贩们继续“苟且残喘”。
林清和披露，广场内的27个摊位由该局自行经营，而另外的14个摊位由槟岛市政局管理，但广场则属槟州发展局的产业。
由于人潮流失，旅客大大减少，致使许多小贩都不再持续日间营业，包括由市局经营的摊格也一样无人问津。
反观由县属经营的黄昏湾广场，则在日间如常营业，尤其饮食摊口。许多在海边进行水上运动活动的游客，部份选择在广场内用餐。
业者吁市局 规划发展该广场
马斯海滨广场业者吁请市政局依据原有计划，有规划的发展该广场，以便吸引顾客及旅客的到来，恢复业务发展，维持生计。
另一方面，他们也希望有关当局关注环境卫生问题，以免影响旅客对旅游胜地的良好形像。
何荣华：重振该区旅游业
业者何荣华表示，市政局曾于2007年12月间，召集该广场业者举行对话，并告知有关该广场的发展计划及作出暂时性安排，以便有关计划可在2008年4月展开工程，惟有关工程却在去年大选后，就没有任何下文，因此，他希望市政局重新考虑推行该项计划，重振该区的旅游业发展。他也表示，该处拥有近50个摊位，但白天营业的不会算很踊跃，造成该处行业的业绩一落千丈！
林颜花促清理沟渠
在该处经营熟食已30年的小贩林颜花（60岁）表示，该小贩中心的环境欠理想，市政局没有例常清理沟渠，使污水不能畅通，造成阻塞现象，臭味熏天，很不卫生。同时，这种环境将不会为他们带来帮助，因此，建议市政局应最少每周2次派人前来清理，促进卫生，带来健康进食环境。
另一位业者哈欣（41岁）也赞同林女士的看法，营业环境必须要获得改善。
吴小姐：停车收费不合理
业者吴小姐（34岁）对该处厕所的设施陈旧破坏，深表不满，厕所不能冲水，水盆没有水喉，屋顶破损，食客、旅客如何使用？当局在致力促进旅游业时，没有关注基本设施，如何会使旅客旧地重游呢？
另一方面，身为业者，她每个月还须缴交15令吉的泊车费，而顾客则每次停放也需付2令吉，这是否合理？希望有关当局给予关注。

What a room number i got tonight. Repeating from what i got during my knee operation in January, OT 14, stayed 14 days in ward.
Never mind, i don't have any problem with all number. And i will buy this number + kasi pao in the next bet.
Back to Penang, what is the first thing thinking in the mind? EAT LAH, CHEAP MAH!!!
Just came back to hotel (Pearl View) hour ago from Penang Island after having my "supper" at East Jelutong with my friend, SY & EH. We took "leng Lui liong sui" & Penang Lok Bak, then again i took Asam Laksa (RM2) & Fried Koay Teow (RM2.50 with three medium size prawn). Of course the leng lui is now leng auntie, after more than 17 years of calling them since form 2.

A New Era Begins
New development in Penang and Selangor. Former Gerakan deputy secretary-general Datuk Lee Kah Choon has sccepted the post of director of InvestPenang and Penang Development Corporation (PDC), two of the state’s economic development agencies. The reason? Toward the economic betterment of Penang.

“I have accepted Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s offer after serious thought, consultation and considerations. I think everyone understands it was a very difficult decision to make, especially if we follow partisan politics,” he said in a press conference held yesterday at the Chief Minister’s office.

PENANG: Bernama (Malaysian National News Agency) has apologised to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for its news story on March 12 which mistakenly quoted Lim as commenting on the May 13 incident.
The apology was contained in a letter dated Saturday and signed by its editor-in-chief Yong Soo Heong.
In the letter sent to the Chief Minister’s office and faxed to The Star, Yong said the inclusion of the fact was intended to give background on the establishment of the New Economic Policy (NEP) in 1971.
“Nevertheless, upon a thorough review, the inclusion of that fact along with Lim's quote may have been inappropriate," he said in the letter.
On March 12, Bernama quoted Lim as saying that the NEP, which was introduced in 1971 after the May 13, 1969, racial riots to eradicate poverty and restructure society, was the source of “cronyism, corruption and inefficiency.”
The Chief Minister’s office in a statement urged the media to play their role in reporting facts.

Can these shops claim their losses from UMNO which include shops that belong to peace-loving Malays, Indians, Chinese and most of all, Malaysian. SY also took video clip and photos of the protest, waiting for it now......
All roads to Georgetown were blocked by Police, Penang Bridge also very jam now!

Some 500 Umno members and supporters staged a brief protest outside the Penang state government office in Komtar this afternoon.
The crowd - which gathered there after Friday prayers around 2.30pm - chanted slogans such as 'Don’t sideline the Malays' and 'Do not abolish the NEP'.
Upon being instructed by the police, the crowd dispersed some 15 minutes later. No untoward incidents were reported.
The protest, led by Penang Umno secretary Azhar Ibrahim, to protest Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's declaration that the new DAP-led state government would do away with the New Economic Policy (NEP) policies.
Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan had warned that the gathering in Komtar would be declared illegal and arrests would be made against the protestors.
However, no arrests were made this afternoon.
Short-sighted Penang UMNO
By having such a leader in Penang is proven to be disastered and luckily Penangite rejected them mostly in 12th General Election. Hope Penangite who still support these idiots can know their true faces now. If they (UMNO) think by stopping the federal funding to Penang's mega projects as a way to revenge Penangite who support DAP, PKR & PAS, then they are totally hell wrong! Anyway, Penangite do not want PORR, can't you Datuk Azhar Ibrahim understand the wish of Penangite? And Penang Monorail is under Scomi, your BN President's son!
Time will tell and people will understand why Penangite are lacking behind compared to other states, because we are having these short-sighted BN leaders. Opps, they are NOT qualify as leader anyway!

PENANG: The state Umno will “persuade” the Federal Government to scrap all the mega projects in the state in view of the people’s clear rejection of Barisan Nasional.
Since Penangites do not want development, the Federal Government should not force it on them, said state Umno liaison committee secretary Datuk Azhar Ibrahim.
He said that this was not Penang Umno taking revenge “but we are actually giving the people what they want”.
“They voted for change, so let us see what the DAP can do,” he said after the party’s emergency meeting at Menara Umno yesterday.
Azhar, who is Penaga assemblyman, was appointed the state Opposition Leader at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Umno liaison committee deputy chief Datuk Abdul Rashid Abdullah hit out at the new administration for its decision not to practise the New Economic Policy (NEP).

First Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin will be in charge of religious affairs, entrepreneur development and cooperatives, information and social relations.
Second Deputy Chief Minister Dr P. Ramasmy will be responsible for the state’s economic planning, education and human resources, science, technology and innovation, he said in a statement after the swearing-in of the two deputy chief ministers and eight state executive councillors before Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas at Dewan Sri Pinang here today.
Chow Kon Yeow, the Padang Kota assemblyman, holds the local government, traffic management and environment portfolios while Lim Hock Seng (Bagan Jermal) is the state executive councillor in charge of public works, utilities (energy, water and telecoms) and transport (air, sea and rail).
Bukit Tambun assemblyman Law Heng Kiang is responsible for tourism development, culture, arts and heritage while Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Boon Poh holds the health and welfare and caring society portfolios, Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai (housing, town and country planning) and Berapit assemblywoman Ong Kok Foi (youth and sports and women, family and community development).
For the two PKR state excecutive councillors, Batu Maung assemblyman Abdul Malik Kassim is given the portfolio on domestic trade and consumer affairs and Bukit Tambun assemblyman Law Choo Kiang (agriculture and agro-based industry, rural development and flood mitigation).

Lim: From ex-prisoner to Penang CM

He has indeed come a long way - from the solitary existence as a political prisoner to newly-minted Penang chief minister.
DAP leader Lim Guan Eng, who was sworn in today, did not forget those lonely days when at his maiden press conference as chief minister, he urged political activists to persevere in their struggle.
Lim, 47, bagged the coveted chief minister post after the DAP-led opposition secured a more than two-thirds majority in the state at last Saturday’s general elections.
The new chief minister, who made his debut in Penang in his two-decade-long career as a politician, won the Air Putih state seat as well as the Bagan parliament seat.
This is the first time a DAP-led government will rule the state, which was under Barisan Nasional’s Gerakan since 1969.
Lim is believed to be the first former prisoner to hold such a high public office.
He was sworn in as Penang’s fourth chief minister this morning before the Penang governor Abdul Rahman Abbas at the governor’s official residence Seri Mutiara.
Also present at the ceremony were his father, Kit Siang - a party stalwart - and his wife, Betty Chew, herself a state assemblywoman for Kota Laksamana in Malacca, as well as their children and siblings.
Outgoing CM and Gerakan acting president Dr Koh Tsu Koon and wife were also present despite that his party was completely wiped out in the state, leaving it without any seat.
The DAP and PKR newly-elected representatives, including president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were also at the ceremony but conspicuously missing were 11 elected representatives from Umno.
Both emotional and excited
At his press conference after the swearing-in ceremony today, Lim said his one-year experience behind bars over a politically-charged case has made him a much stronger person.
“When you are in jail, you lose all your humility. You have to fight everyday to stop yourself from turning into a mere digit. They want to suck you out completely but you must fight, persevere and come out stronger.
“When I was in jail, I never imagine that I will be CM one day. This is a huge transformation for me - from a jailbird to CM,” he told reporters after the one-hour press conference at the chief minister’s office in Komtar, Penang.
A jovial Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, conceded he was excited over the new post, which he described as a “rare and distinguished honour”.
“I am emotional and excited, that’s why I want to give my best shot possible. I want to bring positive changes which are permanent and have lasting effects,” he stressed.
In 1998, when he was Kota Melaka MP, Lim was imprisoned after he was convicted under the Sedition Act and the Printing Presses and Publications Act for alleging that former Malacca chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik of committing statutory rape.
Eleven years before that, he was held under the Internal Security Act for 18 months when the government launched a nationwide crackdown on dissents and activists, dubbed ‘Operasi Lalang’.
Lim unveiled a set of plans for the state government today, where he aimed to introduce a series of reforms ranging from doing away with the New Economic Policy in favour of a non-race-based policies to requiring government officials to publicly declare their assets.
“Today is the start of a new day. It has been raining for the last few days but when I woke up today, I saw that we have a new dawn,” he said, with his father Kit Siang sitting next to him.
Kit Siang: My birthday wish
Asked by reporters for his comment, Lim senior said the his son’s victory in this election was a birthday wish came true for him - Kit Siang celebrated his 67th birthday last month.
“This is a high point of my 42-year political career. During my birthday on Feb 20, I made a birthday wish that we can succeed in Penang and Guan Eng can succeed to become the CM to lead Penang. That birthday wish has came true,” he said to applause from party leaders present.
When asked whether he would offer any guidance to his son, the seasoned politician quipped: “Oh yes, I will tell him quietly.”
Kit Siang, who led the DAP in a failed bid to take over Penang in 1995, however politely declined to make any further comment: “It’s enough, this is the CM’s press conference, not my press conference.”
Guan Eng’s wife, Chew (right), meanwhile said she would leave it to the party to decide on her position on whether she should continue as a state assemblywoman or to assist her husband in Penang.
“He has gone through a lot, and this will make him a better CM,” Chew said when asked about her husband’s new role, adding that she would also need time to adjust to taking on her additional role as Penang CM’s wife.
Interestingly, the first bouquet sent to Lim’s office today to congratulate the DAP’s “historical win” was from the controversial RM25 billion Penang Global City Centre developer, Abad Naluri.
“So fast?” a surprised Lim said when told by a journalist on this. The new CM added that previously it had been very difficult for him to meet with the developer.

Lim unveiled a set of plans for the state government today, where he aimed to introduce a series of reforms ranging from doing away with the New Economic Policy in favour of a non-race-based policies to requiring government officials to publicly declare their assets.
“Today is the start of a new day. It has been raining for the last few days but when I woke up today, I saw that we have a new dawn,” he said, with his father Kit Siang sitting next to him.
Kit Siang: My birthday wish
Asked by reporters for his comment, Lim senior said the his son’s victory in this election was a birthday wish came true for him - Kit Siang celebrated his 67th birthday last month.
“This is a high point of my 42-year political career. During my birthday on Feb 20, I made a birthday wish that we can succeed in Penang and Guan Eng can succeed to become the CM to lead Penang. That birthday wish has came true,” he said to applause from party leaders present.
When asked whether he would offer any guidance to his son, the seasoned politician quipped: “Oh yes, I will tell him quietly.”
Kit Siang, who led the DAP in a failed bid to take over Penang in 1995, however politely declined to make any further comment: “It’s enough, this is the CM’s press conference, not my press conference.”
Guan Eng’s wife, Chew (right), meanwhile said she would leave it to the party to decide on her position on whether she should continue as a state assemblywoman or to assist her husband in Penang.
“He has gone through a lot, and this will make him a better CM,” Chew said when asked about her husband’s new role, adding that she would also need time to adjust to taking on her additional role as Penang CM’s wife.
Interestingly, the first bouquet sent to Lim’s office today to congratulate the DAP’s “historical win” was from the controversial RM25 billion Penang Global City Centre developer, Abad Naluri.
“So fast?” a surprised Lim said when told by a journalist on this. The new CM added that previously it had been very difficult for him to meet with the developer.

PENANG: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has announced the appointment of two Deputy Chief Ministers for the state.
They are the Prai assemblyman from DAP, Prof. P. Ramasamy, and Penanti assemblyman from PKR, Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin.
Lim has not yet named the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the state assembly, but said the two posts would be filled by representatives from PKR.

Air Putih state assemblyperson and DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng was just sworn as Penang’s fourth chief minister. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng took his oath of office as Penang chief minister at “Seri Mutiara”, the official residence of the Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas.

PENANG: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said Tuesday that the Penang Municipal Council and Seberang Perai Municipal Council will waive all summonses involving hawker licences and parking offences issued before March 11.
Lim made the announcement just hours after being sworn in as Chief Minister.
The government could not estimate how much this involved, but Lim said that the waiver would not affect the councils' operations as it was monies not collected yet.
He said that the new state government will also review the policy of political appointments in the councils, and would look towards restoring local government elections.
Lim also promised that open tenders will be held for all state government procurement and contracts.

After spent some time in Ayir Putih Operation Center in Ayer Itam for briefing, we went straight to Perak Lane to listen the ceramah held by DAP, the last ceramah in town.
Few DAP candidates were there, including Jagdeep Singh (Dato Keramat state), eldest son of Karpal Singh, Karpal (Bkt Glugor Parliament), Jeff Ooi (Jelutong Parliament) and Law Heng Kiang (Bt Lanchang state).
In the speech, Karpal endorsed Jeff Ooi as new Tiger of Jelutong ans asked for support from rakyat of Jelutong, and i guess you all know the results!
I was lucky as well able to meet Jeff Ooi face to face while he walked through the crowd toward the stage, shake our hands and he hugged me. What a surprise!
By midnight, FRU drove by...... and Jeff asked rakyat not to afraid, we are the boss! and time to vote......

War Zone: Penang - Battle of Century
Rocket at Wet Market nea "Jalan 7th"
Pulau Tikus, Burmah RoadBack to Penang on 1.30am, 7th March 2008. And from time to time, received news on Han Jiang High School DAP ceramah from my friend. The crowd hit 60,000 people with collection about RM 123k. Imagine the football field packed with people from all races until another 10k people stand outside the school compound.
courtesy TV SmithTonight will attend another briefing at Ayer Itam for Ayer Puteh state seat at 8pm. Then we rush to Perak Lane to listen to Jeff Ooi's ceramah. At 10pm, we will drive north to Fettes Park to listen to Anwar's ceramah.
The day has come. We shall cast our votes wisely.

Penang - The Tua Pek Kong Has Spoken
一年一度槟州华商关注的丹绒道光海珠屿大伯公庙“请火”测市道仪式，今日凌晨烧出了答案，得出槟州经济首季（农历正月至四月）“下”，次季（农历五月至八月）“平”及下季（农历九月至十二月）“平”的差强人意状况，在场者无不担心未来。
Based on the "fire", the economic prediction in Penang is not that good. 1st season (Jan - April) - Bad, 2nd season (May - August) - Average, 3rd season (September - December) - Average.
微弱而瞬间消失的火势，看在庙外围观的人群眼里，“惨啦”、“今年不好势啦”的叹息和叫嚷此起彼落。
The weak "fire" eventually worried the prayers and the people around there. Seem like even Tua Pek Kong is telling us to make a good choice in this general election, if we were to enjoy a better future.
