It was an exciting Saturday 20th May 2006 starting from 7pm till midnight as the Sarawak 9th State Election results were announced one by one in RTM1. Also i got the update news directly from Chan Kok Hong, live from Kuching. It has been long time that i never watch RTM1 that able to last more than 5 hours.
Last Saturday, Opposition won 9 seats out of 71 seats, a great achievement from 8th State Election (2001) where opposition only won 1 seat at Kidurong by DAP. A total of 38% popular votes won by Opposition, but only 12.7% of seats. DAP 6, SNAP 1, PKR 1, Bebas 1.
The six DAP Sarawak Assembly members elected today are:
1.Bukit Assek – Wong Ho Leng – 10,380 votes – 4,751 majority

2.Kidurong – Chiew Chiu Sing- 8,517 votes – 1,664 majority
3.Kota Sentosa – Chong Chieng Jen – 6,579 votes- 531 majority
4.Batu Lintang – Voon Lee Shan – 8,806 votes – 3,407 majority
5.Pending – Violet Yong Wui Wui-11,632 votes – 4,372 majority
6.Meradong – Ting Tse Hui – 5,990 votes – 3,578 majority
In Pelawan, Dr. Ting Chek Ming lost by 267 votes; in Dudong, Stephen Lu Cheng Kuok lost by 408 votes; in Repok, Kung Chin Chin lost by 576 votes.
Happy birthday to TBK on 20th May 2006. Your birthday this year is a memorable one, great one. Also congratulation to Kok Hong, not only Chong Chieng Jen won, you won too, all Sarawakians won too. Bravo.
May this results become a good model for other states in the coming election.
