Penang's Mega Project

Two (2) news i read from today Thestar.

1. Penang’s Little Manhattan project
2. Second Penang Bridge construction to start in November

When i read Manhattan Project, initially i thought is nuclear programme that developed during WWII. Rupa-rupanya building a man made island off off Penang coast, calling it “our own Little Manhattan.”

The company would also be granted reclamation rights covering 200ha at Gurney Drive and the Middle Bank.

The man-made island is close to the Bayan Lepas Industrial Area and the project would complement the 17km PORR project. Work expected to start on PORR in April next year and the Peninsular Metro-Works Sdn Bhd (PMW) would sign the concession agreement with the Government late next month or early September.

i do not mind having the so called "our own Little Manhattan” or what so ever name, buy i don't really like the PORR as PORR only can last less than 10 years before reaching its full capacity again. Furthermore, tolls are going to collect from this little island. Why not improve the public tansport system, when the heck the Penang Monorail System going to start work? Why reclaimat Gurney Drive instead of putting effort to clean up the dirty mug?

Anyway, i am doubt of this company able to fund the mega project as one of the equity stake Nadi Senandung Sdn Bhd is a company with RM100 paid-up capital!!! Back to square, maybe at last the project will be funded by Government, our tax money again. Wait & see, we shall. Then i read another mega project, Penang 2nd bridge, long waited bridge for Penangite. Wait till neck also long already....... tak jadi-jadi jugak. Now they claim will start work November, listen 1st lah. Don't announce just for the sake of General Election_is_coming cerita.

Lastly, who got the contracts? ask yourself lah.....
