8月：老槟城的回忆·新鲜人的圣地 新世界添新玩意
槟城29日讯）《光华日报》在2006年8月10日独家报导糖王要在槟城建全马最大饮食中心，并圈定新世界的发展已经全面完工。相隔一年，耗资1600万令吉打造全槟最宏伟的怀旧饮食中心的“新世界”娱乐场（New World Park）第二阶段竣工，8月1日起预先营业。
始于二战前的汕头巷“新世界”娱乐场，自糖王郭鹤年旗下财团于70年代间购下，却让它荒置了30多年的槟岛娱乐大本营，去年8月1日开始动工，首阶段工程的小贩中心在今年1月1日开张之后，属于第二阶段的娱乐休闲中心工程也进入了尾声。
陈华鹏：从清晨到深夜 料10月杪全面开张
掌管“新世界”娱乐场的郭鹤年属下子公司的PPB Hartabina有限公司工程管理高级经理陈华鹏接受《光华日报》专访时透露，“新世界”娱乐场预计在今年10月底正式全面开张。而从8月1日开始预先营业。营业时间从每日清晨直到深夜，相信将带给槟城人及游客不同时空体验的休闲感觉。
他说，占地5依格的“新世界”娱乐场建筑结构及经营理念新旧交融。一方面仿效吉隆坡武吉免登“星光大道”的不夜天概念，另一方面也尝试保留过去“新世界”韵味，里面除了有各式各样的槟城美食，也设立了一个音乐喷泉和一座露天舞台，邀请各路艺人上台表演，未来可能会有类似50年代新世界里的露天电影院、跳舞场、运动场、商展馆等设备出现。
陈华鹏说：单是“新世界”娱乐场的“进图”申请，就花费了3年时间才获得批准。

“新世界”是老槟城的集体回忆。这里曾经发生了许许多多的精彩故事。例如“新世界”曾是老槟城所公认的相亲圣地、槟岛最棒的美食中心、歌手及运动员打出名堂的“木人巷”...我们会延续和提升新世界的娱乐性，让它一直精彩下去，成为槟城人引以为傲的一个休闲中心，游客非到不可的一个旅游目标。
他说：希望更多人提供我们有关新世界的资料及旧图片。结合大众的力量和理想，集体打造一个属于槟城人特色的寻梦园。
陈华鹏透露：我们已经购置了几个过去在“新世界”里外摆卖的古董小贩摊格、桌椅和手推车。我们也在努力收取当年的“新世界”旧图片和戏院海报。计划在“新世界里”设立一个展览厅，展示当年的新世界历史。
以餐厅美食为主 设28高档营业单位
第二阶段的“新世界”娱乐城，设有28个高档营业单位。主要还是以餐厅美食为主。包括旧街市咖啡店（Old Town Kopitiam）、红酒餐厅、网吧及各种饮食店。其中，著名的咖啡连锁店星巴克咖啡馆（Star Buck）也证实加盟，在那里搭起帐篷，敲敲打打了。
而在8月1日预先营业的餐厅有4家。它们是：驰名巴生谷的“肉骨茶王”、别具一格的“娘惹咖啡餐厅”、“香城”香饼站及跨国比萨店。
餐厅周围林木花草，并设有一个占地2千平方尺的露天表演台。如观赏热带雨林舞台表演，观众可自由站坐，一面吃冰淇淋，一面观赏台上艺人演出。
逢周五周六晚上 乐队现场演出
8月份的舞台节目单里，每逢周五及周六晚上，都有乐队现场表演。未来也将有歌唱、话剧、舞蹈等精彩文化表演。
而从8月11日开始到11月，每逢周六清晨7时30分开始的1个小时里，“新世界”娱乐场露天舞台周围，都有专人免费指导民众随着悠扬的音乐跳健康舞。
9月1日的“新世界”露天舞台上，将有一场罗曼蒂克的“情歌比赛”。爱唱歌的朋友可得注意哦，别错过了这一个大展歌喉，又有丰富奖金放进口袋的好机会。

停车位难找的乔治市，“新世界”娱乐城拥有充足的停车位。每半小时停车收费只收40仙。比每半小时收取50仙的市政局停车位还要便宜。

Rasmussen Sacked!

Penang's Mega Project
Two (2) news i read from today Thestar.
1. Penang’s Little Manhattan project
2. Second Penang Bridge construction to start in November
When i read Manhattan Project, initially i thought is nuclear programme that developed during WWII. Rupa-rupanya building a man made island off off Penang coast, calling it “our own Little Manhattan.”
The company would also be granted reclamation rights covering 200ha at Gurney Drive and the Middle Bank.
The man-made island is close to the Bayan Lepas Industrial Area and the project would complement the 17km PORR project. Work expected to start on PORR in April next year and the Peninsular Metro-Works Sdn Bhd (PMW) would sign the concession agreement with the Government late next month or early September.
i do not mind having the so called "our own Little Manhattan” or what so ever name, buy i don't really like the PORR as PORR only can last less than 10 years before reaching its full capacity again. Furthermore, tolls are going to collect from this little island. Why not improve the public tansport system, when the heck the Penang Monorail System going to start work? Why reclaimat Gurney Drive instead of putting effort to clean up the dirty mug?
Anyway, i am doubt of this company able to fund the mega project as one of the equity stake Nadi Senandung Sdn Bhd is a company with RM100 paid-up capital!!! Back to square, maybe at last the project will be funded by Government, our tax money again. Wait & see, we shall. Some more, DAP have this data records from ROC, if you are lazy to look for it, just click here to read.
Then i read another mega project, Penang 2nd bridge, long waited bridge for Penangite. Wait till neck also long already....... tak jadi-jadi jugak. Now they claim will start work November, listen 1st lah. Don't announce just for the sake of General Election_is_coming cerita.
Lastly, who got the contracts? ask yourself lah.....

Legends Golf & Country Resort
Stay one night at The Legends Golf & Country Resort on monday till tuesday for official trip. Having a presentation (stakeholder consultation) to local stakeholder community on Tuesday morning. Not to mention my work, just to describe the room design only.
The Guest House is super open, no wall from the entrance, only glass door (3 panels) with curtain. Make sure you don't play around with curtain wide open. Once you enter the Guest House, is your bed with TV, table lamps, etc. Then a door to bath room.
Inside there, 2 sections. One is for you to wash your face and "pangsai". Another section is for you to bath with nature. OPEN STYLE. You can bath while enjoying the morning sun, you can sing together with birds, watching the aeroplane fly across the sky, maybe the spy satellite is watching you as well if the CIA is too free. At night you can bath with rain as well. Just imagine, OK.

除了纳吉昨天的低调回应之外，今天的各大语文报章都没有刊登民间组织或个人对此课题的观点。《东方日报》及《中国报》以外的其他报章甚至也不报道纳吉不愿再谈回教国课题的新闻。
《独立新闻在线》率先报道，国安部出版与可兰经文本管制组秘书仄汀尤索（Che Din bin Yusoh）致电各报总编辑，以口头发出指示报社即日起不可再跟进“回教国”议题，但首相兼国安部长阿都拉巴达威及副首相纳吉对此议题的谈话内容则可报道。
国安部是执行《1984年印刷机与出版法令》的政府部门，而国内报章则都受制于这项法规，必须每年重新申请出版准证，而且国安部长有绝对审核权决定是否发出新的出版准证给报社。即使国安部长签发了出版准证，他也能随时撤销或冻结出版准证。因此，国内报社一般都会按照国安部的指示行事。
《东方日报》昨天曾以封面头条报道马来西亚律师公会及华社党团举证反驳纳吉的言论（右图），今天则在第四版报道纳吉昨天主持宽频执行蓝图内阁委员会会议后，不愿再谈“回教国”课题的言论；纳吉说，回教国课题已告一段落，他不愿再作评论，以免引起混淆。
《中国报》今天则在A5版底端以小篇幅报道纳吉不再谈论回教国课题的新闻。
纳吉也是巫统署理主席，他周二（7月17日）在吉隆坡为“回教国在全球化世界所扮演的角色”大会主持开幕后，在记者会上说，马来西亚不是世俗国，而是依据本身的诠释，定为回教国。
纳吉的言论招致律师公会及党团非议，认为纳吉的言论违反了《联邦宪法》精神。前副首相安华昨天也批评纳吉宣称马来西亚是个“回教国”的说法，是由于屈从于宗教及种族情绪，却也反映了后者对“回教国”这个词汇的实质意义愚昧。
