No motion in Bonn

same old story...... Developed country asking developing country to commit some emission reduction while developing country ask the rich country to do so...... Road to Copenhagen, seem not so easy huh?

The nuclear industry is hoping that UN-led climate talks in Bonn, now going into their second and final week, will overturn eight years of exclusion from schemes meant to help poorer countries develop low-carbon technologies.

The draft text currently under discussion in the 182-countries forum in Bonn, includes an option to make nuclear plants eligible for funding from 2012 under two schemes: the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation.

Nuclear power was excluded from these schemes under the Kyoto Protocol in 2001, after opposition from European and developing countries.

While the nuclear industry is optimistic, environmentalists are concerned.

“It’s a survival strategy for the nuclear industry, not the planet,” says Shaun Burnie, a nuclear energy consultant and former Greenpeace campaigner.

Besides biomass, biogas, solar, wind, ocean, hydro that give us renewable energy, seem like it is time for carbon emissions-free nuclear power? Problem is how to handle the residue wastes.......

1 year in new company

Time flies, i have work in the current company for 1 year and 3 days now. Though it is very busy compared to previous company, yet my exposure to this CDM industry has increased very much. From previously only handled biogas project from palm oil industry in Malaysia, i am now involves in biogas project from palm oil industry, starch industry, composting project , solids separation cum composting project, biomass to heat project....... and soon project in animal waste to biogas.

Life in CDM always try to meet the dateline and the expiry date of the methodology, never ending of new methodologies and revised version, new guidelines and tools from EB that alway makes this industry becoming tougher and tougher yet the CERs that expected to get is becoming lesser & lesser. Will this industry come to the end after 2012? Nobody knows.

And finally my burden reduced end of this month with more project almost completed for 1st stage of validation. Really need to pray hard it will eventually registered in UNFCCC without request for review, really need to pai ang kong.

Last few day just welcome my colleague from Guatemala, a young lady, speak spanish and english. Have the chance to learn spanish now. Not going to update anything here untill next month. She was here for some exposure, i wonder why i don't have the chance to be exposed too in the foreign land? It must be very great right?

Anyway, i am committed to stay in Malaysia especially KL for next month and July. Wife is expecting to deliver anytime......Don't play-play ler......

Earth Hour Malaysia

The world is getting hotter now and you got to take action to reduce the global warming. Kyoto Protocol is expired in 2012 and the world leaders are still negotiating to extend to next phase. Due to human activities, forests are being opened up for development, fossil fuel is combusted in almost every sector, gases that has the global warming potential (GWP) of 21x till few thousand times have released million of tonnes of CO2 equivalent to the atmosphere every year.

As per today, there is a total of 1530 CDM projects registered under UNFCCC. Out of this number, Malaysia has 44 projects which mostly in palm oil related sector (biogas recovery, biomass project for heat and power generation), mini hydro, EFB/biomass composting, energy efficiency projects, fuel swiching, etc.

To give an idea how much you are contributing to global warming just from your house's electricity consumption, refer the info below:

Region - 2007

Peninsular Malaysia - 0.695 tCO2/MWh

Sarawak - 0.861 tCO2/MWh

West of Sabah - 0.788 tCO2/MWh

East of Sabah - 0.800 tCO2/MWh

If you stay in P. Malaysia, for every MWh yo used, you are generating 695 kg of CO2. So next time when you leave your aircond ON when nobody is using that, think twice, as you are releasing the CO2 into the atmosphere........This is just power consumption, not taking into account on the petrol that you are burning everyday!

Centralize Pig Farm: Sandiwara Kaw-Kaw

Recently goreng hot issue, the centralised pigs farm, that Utusan Melayu and other Governnment controlled papers keep on talked about, is just another sandiwara.

Oscar should award these UMNOs & ketua kampung some best actor and supporting actor to them. We called them 2 heads snake. Or TUHAN & HANTU.

These are the most hated people we have in the world. Hoping one day they will realiase that thier acts are idiot and an insult to our intelligence.

This project will once for all solve the pollution issue, of course the system need to be maintained all the time to achieve its optimum condition. High organic strength pig waste will be anaerobically decayed and produce biogas which is a source of green house gasses that being indentified under UNFCCC. By trapping the biogas and further clean it, channel to biogas engine or to boiler to generate eletricity, it will reduce the consumption fossil fired electricity from national grid, it is also fall under the 9th Rancangan Malaysia where Malaysian Government targeted 350 MW of total power produced is Renewable Energy (RE) (Teras 19). It will indirectly reduce the foreign exchange loss due to import of fossil fuel plus contribute to better world.

The Project able to considere under CDM as well if we can determine the baseline of how many head of pigs. If the current pig farms is located everywhere, then it is not feasible to invest all the set-up and gas engine to capture and generate RE. Only by centralise them, then project only feasible. Of course, if the project can considere under CDM, then sales from carbon credit will add into revenue.

I don't see why the project should be rejected? Tell me one reason please!

Haze is Back!!

Bloody haze is back to Malaysia, beware. Yesterday paper reported that there are 171 hot spots found in Sumatra. Damn it man, i hate to smell it, to see it and and to read it. I must close all the windows, doors......

Free Fish

On Wednesday, a lot of people gathering along the big monsoon drain at Palace of Golden Horses at Besraya Highway. You know what they did there? They were fishing there...eh.. fishing not the accurate word to describe it... should use the word: catching. Ya, using hand and the net.

The water is damn smelly, yes, it is still smelly until now. According to one malay chap, the ikan Pengsan. After i heard the word, i also pengsan. So smelly, if the fishes were pengsan, for sure there is something wrong to the pond water and yet people still rushing to get the pengsan fish. For syok sendiri or sell it to open market or cook, saya tak tau lah...

Mist Again - Bkt Belimbing

Today morning mist again in Bukit Belimbing, the place i stay. This is the 3rd time since i stay here for 2 years that mist happended.

1st time. No photograph during that time.

Rain After A Week

Finally it is rain at KL, hopefully Balakong also at 5.15pm. The stupid haze just make people fall sick only... But when it is rain at this moment, i also headache as i can't go back .... Heard from colelague, Putra LRT is moving slow too...

Getting Worst

The haze just getting worst and the rain this morning just cant help anything... now from my office window (11.51 am), i cant even see clearly the China Bank which is less than 1km away... What the hell... Yesterday morning it seem very clear the sky, about noon i can smell something is burning then the haze just suddenly attacked!!! And the whole damn night cover by haze!!! All windows and doors must close tight to avoid this haze from attacking my Henn Henn.

What the heck our good neighbour going to do to control their farmers from keep on burning, like a mentrual cycle that will happen at end of the year every year without fail? I should bring my camera today to snap the KLCC, which seem like located at Genting Highland instead of city of KL.

Now i can read the words of Bank of China, the condition is improving. But who know later, thing change ..... Let us wait and see.

Haze oh Haze

The haze come at wrong time. But actually the haze normally come at this period, end of the year. My son just wanna recover from cough and flu, then this idiot haze "counter attack", thanks to our "responsible" neighbour. Now cough again plus flu.

Getting serious this morning, so PL sent him to see doctor in Serdang Perdana again. He got cough and some kind of breathing_system sensitive (or what ever you wanna call it - trakea infection). Try the medicine for few days, see how, if cannot, take antibiotic....

I hate the haze..... and i believe lot more of people hate it!!!

Steel Can - Recyclable?

I went to recycle my Steel Can used containers into Orange Bin that provided by Kementerian Perumahan Dan Kerajaan Tempatan. At the Orange Bin, i was thinking hard should i throw the steel can into the bin since the bin only stated Aluminium Can. It is not logic that steel can cannot be recycled. So just apply the attitude Tak Apa, hentam saja la.

But after go through the website, under Orange Bin, All types of aluminium and steel cans like drink cans and food cans are recyclable. Why at the bin never stated such information. shit!!!
